El Comercio, La Identidad en Transformación [Identity in Transformation]

When we loose our connection to nature we loose our spirit, our sense of self. Perceiving industrial materials that we take for granted as alive brings back our sense of awareness. Understanding their sources as well as their role in our daily lives generates questions that we often choose not to answer. Managing dissonance is a challenge in the strive for balance that can be attained by communing polarity. The Return, or “El Regreso”, stands for the 22nd card of the Egyptian Tarot matching number for year 2002. It is an archetypal representation of coming back to ourselves and moving forward with a renewed sense of self and the collective— the culmination of a journey into awareness, transformation, healing and grounding.

The Return features sculptures made out of sulfur, copper and glass to invite spirit back into our modern world. Using the innate qualities of these materials to touch upon socio-economic & environmental issues, wellness/healing, ancestral practices and de-coloniality.
